How to improve match rates with company websites when using the Data Exchange

Learn how to use an AI prompt to find missing company websites before uploading your list to Firmable's data exchange.

Why company websites matter

When uploading a list of companies to Firmable's data exchange for enrichment, including the company website significantly improves your chances of a good match rate. Firmable uses the website as a unique identifier when matching and enriching company records, so missing websites can result in fewer successful matches.

If your list only contains company names, use the steps below to find their websites before uploading.

Prerequisites

  • You have a CSV file containing a list of company names ready to enrich
  • You have access to an AI assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar
  • You have a column in your CSV file for company websites (e.g. "Website" or "Domain")

How to use the AI prompt

Use the prompt below to find the official website for each company in your list. The prompt is designed to return one URL per row, in the same order as your input, so it can be pasted directly back into your spreadsheet.

  • Copy the prompt below
  • Paste your list of company names where it says [paste company list here]
  • Run the prompt in your chosen AI assistant
  • Copy the output and paste it into the website column of your CSV file

The prompt

Task: Find the official website URL for each company in the list. Strict instructions (must follow exactly): Return ONLY the website URLs - Do NOT include company names, explanations, notes, or extra text - Keep the exact same order as the input list - Output must be in CSV format (one URL per line, no headers) - If a website cannot be found, return n/a in that exact position - Do NOT skip, reorder, merge, or group any entries - If a company appears more than once, repeat the same website - Prefer the official company domain only — do NOT return LinkedIn, directories, Crunchbase, or third-party sites - Return the root domain only (e.g. company.com.au — not company.com.au/about) Validation rules before outputting: - The number of output rows must exactly match the number of input companies - The order must be identical to the input - Every row must contain either a valid domain or n/a - If any rule is broken, fix it before returning the final answer Input: [paste company list here]

Optional — paste this line at the top of the prompt for best results:

You must strictly follow all instructions. Any deviation (extra text, wrong order, missing rows) is incorrect. Do not explain anything. Output only the final CSV list.

What the Input looks like

Company name
Firmable
Mcdonalds
Test Company NZ
Southern Group

What the output looks like

The AI will return one URL per line, matching the order of your input exactly. For example:

Company Website
firmable.com
mcdonalds.com.au

n/a

southerngroup.co.nz

Where a website could not be found, n/a will appear in that position so the row count stays aligned with your original list.

Tips for best results

  • Paste your company names exactly as they appear in your spreadsheet — one per line, no extra formatting
  • Review any n/a results manually, as some companies may use trading names that differ from their registered domain
  • Always check that the number of output rows matches your input before pasting into your CSV
